OSMC's December update is here - OSMC

Indeed, I could install it from the app store without any issue.

Thanks for confirming.

Hey there! I’m loving my new Vero V and I’ve been loving OSMC for quite some time now.

Just wanted to point out that in this latest update, my TVs native resolution, 1360x768, no longer shows up as an option. It was showing up in the prior version, and I’ve since downgraded back. Might anyone here know of a better solution, or would it just require waiting for a fix? Either way, thank you guys very much!

Hi

We’re not aware of such a problem, so it won’t magically show up as a fix in a future update

I’d suggest starting a forum post with some logs so we can check the EDID of your TV and how we’re handling the display modes that your TV reports.

I’m sure we can get it solved promptly

Cheers

Sam

Updated my Raspberry Pi 2 Model B Rev 1.1 in my FHD/7.1 theater and Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.2 in my UHD/5.2.4 theater. Aside from a frown after the service restart, both rebooted to an apparently working state.

Thanks again @sam_nazarko.

Posted on Mastodon and looking forward to seeing OSMC across the Fediverse.

Thanks for your kind words.

I’ve already made plans to set up a Mastodon account for OSMC in the near future.

Sam

Is this 1360x768 or 1366x768? Please make a new thread and post logs.

Yes, I tried it before but it failed on the Vero V. On my 4K+ I installed it all via terminal. Had no idea it tried re-installing it again on an update…

The december update makes my vero 5 play 4k material in a 1920x1080p ‘window’ in the top left corner. The rest of the screen is black.

Stopping the video makes the gui show up in that same corner. playing 1080p material fixes it. (until 4k is played again)

As discussed earlier in this thread there were some glitches with existing screen calibration with the switch to allow 4K GUI. The prefered fix at this very moment would be to ssh into your Vero from another computer and run the following command…

systemctl stop mediacenter && awk -v RS='' '{sub(/<resolutions>.*<\/resolutions>/,"<resolutions/>"); print}' ~/.kodi/userdata/guisettings.xml>tmp && mv -f tmp ~/.kodi/userdata/guisettings.xml && systemctl start mediacenter

Yes, it does! Thanks @darwindesign ! I should have searched a bit harder before before posting this. Sorry!

How can i Set the Genre colours for TV?

I assume, you’re referring to the now supported genre colour feature of the OSMC Skin.

Same as for Estuary, these colours are fixed and rely on genre information provided by the PVR backend. Offering options to adjust each and every genre colour manually would be a setting overkill turning our already complex skin colour settings section into a plane cockpit.
What we do offer is a setting to disable the colours altogether, if you prefer the old, more minimalistic look: Have a look at the end of the skin colour settings section for this option.

Thank you. I found the setting to disable the Genre colours at all, but how can i enable a Genre colour, for example for the Genre “News / Current affairs” ?

As stated, the colours are fixed and they’re the same as with the default Kodi skin Esturay - for some genres the colour will be a shade of grey. IIRC, this is the case e.g. for news, etc.

Yesterday I updated my vero 4k to the december update and after watching several 1080p x264 reencodes it seems to me that the image quality has deteriorated. I often saw individual areas in the image slowly moving around or shaking, just as if it were encoded with a very low bitrate. With the previous updates I never experienced this. The Vero 4k is set to hardware decoding. Has anything changed in the driver of the video decoding that could explain this behavior?
Thanks, Marc

Did you update from a very old version of OSMC?

We have some changes that may impact interlaced content but we received good feedback about these improvements.

I suggest a new thread with some information about the videos you are playing.

Thanks for the great update, everything seems to run a little bit smoother on Vero V.

Vero V; latest December updates put in and I can no longer browse my DLNA servers … I’m guessing no-one else has seen this … ?

Haven’t had reports of this yet. Some logs should help. Would also suggest a reboot.
