Playing Blu-ray - box crashed

Hi - until now I’ve just been using the box for audio, now starting to look at video.

Just want to clarify if any add-ons are needed, & the method of playback.

I had a rip in my library, selected the index.bdmv & clicked, it showed a further selection & I clicked on blu-ray menu, then I got a sad face before box crashed. Am I using the right process, or should I be using the m2ts file(s)?

thanks!

To play bluray menu, you have to install Java Runtime Environment. On myOSMC → AppStore.

Then you can look at these 3 “Bluray Playback” topics if it don’t work. Just read and apply what you think is good.

Hi - unfortunately didn’t work - installed Java, went back in to play B/R menu, then box crashed again…

Here’s a log: paste.osmc.tv/ehorarapuz

Keep in mind that Java (BD-J) menu support is still experimental and not stable.
The actual crash in your log however is called by OOM (out of memory). Do you have additional services installed on the system?

Sam

Thanks Sam,

No, there’s nothing else installed .

And there are no other crashes, unless you play this file?

Sam

When I try & navigate the menu, to select tracks, it allows a few clicks up & down, then freezes & gives the “sad face” before crashing.

edit: I have a copy of the blu-ray in my mega, & could send the link, if it could be tested on another box?
It’s a fan-made, concert video, so track navigation is more of a desired feature here than maybe on a normal movie.

I see. Can this be reproduced with other Blu-rays?

Yes, I’m using a couple, neither of which I can play properly. They work ok on a Kodi installation on my Win 11 PC.

Here’s some screen-shots of what I get. 1st is from Kodi installed on Win 11 PC:

This is what happens when I execute the index file in Vero:

Then go down to “Show blu-ray menu”:

When I select the Track Selection option, it only displays a black screen, with the 1st entry in the menu. If I try to move down, the system crashes:

Here’s the source Blu-ray I’m using:

Hope this helps!

Just wondering if anyone is able to help here please?

44GB is a bit of a download.
Are you able to reproduce the issue with a smaller filesize perhaps?

Is this a commercial disc release, or is it created by someone?
Have you seen the issue with other commercial Blu-ray rips

Sam

Hi Sam,
I only have a couple of other ripped blus, they’re all fan-made music (concert recordings), & a similar size. I did get a friend to test on a Zidoo, & worked fine, as it does on a Windows 11 Kodi install.

I know it’s large, was just hoping someone could d/load & test on either a 4K or V to see whether it would work for them.

It may work better on Vero V as it has double the RAM, and your crashes seem to occur as a result of running out of free memory.

would be great if it could be tested, would that be possible please?

Do you have a smaller file that can be tested with?
Otherwise I will grab it.

sorry, no, the others I have (with the same structure) are similar size. That’s why it’s important to me for this particular one to be tested on another machine - if it can be “made” to work, either on a 4k+ or V, then I would assume the others I have will be fine.

Hi - just checking whether you (or anyone) were able to test this on a V? If It worked then I’d happily upgrade from my 4K+ :+1:

I will download it now and test it when I can.
It’s not easy to download. MegaUpload just keeps crashing.

Can’t download it unfortunately, so can’t advise.

If I try and download it as a ZIP there is an error after 30-40 minutes. I have tried several times. If you can share it as an ISO I will try and test it but otherwise I cannot advise.
