@Toast, just to be clear, Libreelec also has the same “snes9x” that osmc has, and this emulator doesnt run well in osmc nor in libreelec.
But libreelec bundles “snes9x 2010” (which osmc doesn’t), and that emulator is the one that runs ok on rpi2.
Same goes for MAME2003, but psx-rearmed needs a newer libc.so to work. But still this is LE compiled binarys, let’s just hope gmc and/or nazarko get some time/ideas on how to fix this for OSMC.
well its all good for LE my focus is OSMC so lets refocus on that and the emulators that @gmc and @sam_nazarko has in the distro at the moment
Mame2000 is also working on rpi2.
yeah… it’s a great idea but i have try to understand how i can create myself a .scummvm file but i can’t found a usefull guide or somethings similar
For example i don’t have understand if when a .scummvm files it’s can possible to set desidered path or not…
If i understand you know a github how i can pick a zip whit some “source” .scummvm files ? You can suggest when github it’s it ?
EDIT
Oh… another question… someone know if in future it’s add a way to emulate the .adf format (Amiga /WinUAE) ?
Here you go with the list, it contains multiple for the same game and i haven’t really learned which is which.
Download the zip and you get all 3,560 entries (multiple per game as I said), locate you game in the zips Games folder, and copy it to the folder where your scummvm gaem is.
Amiga is coming as all else it need to reworked for kodis need.
Some mame games have driver issues resulting in crashes.
mmmm… i need to try
I have download all zip… and i have extracted the 4 files related my test games “The Secret Of Monkey Island”.
I have tryed to look whit Notepad++ all files and it’s contain only “monkey” at first line.
For Italian monkey island the ID it’s different… it’s “Monkey-it”.
I have modified and put this .scummvm inside the folder of games and i need to test how it’s appened if i reach the folder by intenet file source.
If it’s works it’s a workaround but it’s not resolve the issue because from GUI you can set save path and so many other option…
Also on recent update of osmc… apparently the scummvm.ini it’s not saved…
EDIT
I tested how it’s appened… put the .scummvm whit monkey-it ID.
Kodi it’s crash whit a bad face. Latest update of osmc…
EDIT 2
Edited the .scummvm… remove monkey-it and put monkey. It’s works… now if i launch the .scummvm files the games it’s start but i can’t choose nothings preferences like how i want to put the savegames or similar.
Instead… i press F5 on my keyboard connected on my pi2… no menù appears. Strange.
If you run the scummvm addon you get the usual scummvm interface.
People using rpi3b+ and Bluetooth controller, do you feel any lag when playing games? With my rpi2, I can feel almost 1 sec lag after I press any key on the controller.
None at all using my wii controller, what kinda controller is it ?
It’s a generic BM-707 / BM-727 controller.
It seems it’s not a controller problem, because it doesn’t lag when navigating through rpi2/kodi menus.
And it also doesn’t lag when playing emulated games on my Ubuntu desktop (x86_64) running kodi 18.
yes i know… but problably the “bug” about preferences not stored it’s not resolved.
Otherwise if i add the games it’s appears “monkey-it”… if i put "monkey-it on the .scummvm cause kodi goes in crash. Whit “monkey” the games can be launched directly from Source file explorer but i can’t obtain the save menù on F5… very strange.
Problably the scummvm integration it’s not fully at the moment and it’s contain some critical bug ?
Are you using your wiimote? Does this work?
You can’t put inside what you like. It’s a fixed line of keys. For “Secret of Monkey Island” it is always “monkey”, no matter what language you use.
Have a look here:
The files ending with CRLF are for Windows, i guess the one without ending is usable in linux (osmc).
wiimotes with classic controller works just fine under osmc
Hi friends… i have a huge trouble whit the last build of osmc installed on my Pi2 setup and the NES emulation.
Try to explain better i can do:
I have some tryed to use “bnes”… ever time kodi goes in crash whit bad face.
All other apparently works but after randomly gameplay my Pi2 system FREEZE irremediably… at this point it’s can’t respond to every remote commands, it’s not reachable by FTP or SSH or HTTP and the only ways it’s disconnect his power supply and reboot manually.
Apparently i don’t know what it’s the cause ? Bad emulation ? overtemperature ? poor power supply ?
Has anyone recently achieved similar behavior ?

Sorry for double reply but i have made so other test on my OSMC setup and NES emulation. About 5 minutes ago i have removed all other USB Device attached to my pi2:
- Normally i use a 16GB Pendrive how it’s stored some films and how i stored currently some roms (also the nes roms i obtain the issue describded above).
- I also use a bluethoot keyboard and his bluethoot usb adaptor… i have removed it.
I have enabled the debug log and i have reboot my Pi2.
At reboot i have attached my joystick… i have tryed whit a GameStop wired Xbox 260 Gamepad and whit an Arcade Stick whit 10 buttons (made my me buying all materials on internet like the usb converter and the sanwa stick and buttons).
At reboot by my pc using a FTP i have created a roms folders on sd… i have created it on:
/home/osmc/roms.
I have copy inside the roms used for above test.
Reach the patch trought “Source” and test:
- bnes goes in crash kodi whit bad face.
- All other NES emulator… also now after a random time my Pi2 freeze completely
I have tryed to do a look myself to the debug log after this freeze but but I don’t know anything that indicates the causes of this freeze/crash system
Ah… on my last test i have tryed to copy a .gw on same roms folders… apparently the Game&Watch emution it’s very good whitout any freeze or other apparently issue.
At this point what can freeze create? It’s my skin to heawy for my system (i use Estuary mod v2)? Strange because about a month ago I had done a similar test (whit the first kodi 18 release of osmc) and i have play a nes games for about one hours whitout any problems… right now it’s not anymore possible for me

Now here i can report some update:
About 5 minutes ago i made some other NES emulation test… i have reattached my Gamestop Xbox 360 wired controller to my Pi2.
Start a NES emulation (using quicknes) and… OMG… it’s works!! I have played a games (Casino Kid 2) for about 30 minutes whitout any problems or freeze!!
The only different ??? Previously i have USED A USB EXTENSION cable ?!?!? It’s possible this extension cable can create all this issue ??? Really ??
Just tried Elite for NES with QuickNES emulator.
Some instructions regarding settings, not sure if they can be set in QuickNES.
Graphics seem cut off at bottom and some corruption at bottom of 3D view,
but otherwise seems to work .
Hard to play with the radar display etc cut off.
