Then I would suggest you reinstall from scratch. I can find no explanation for this behavior and you have a very odd jumble of updates having moved from several different testing branches. I have tested that remote command in all three German keyboard layouts in stable, staging, and Kodi 19 nightly with a fresh install on a Vero just yesterday. This is despite the fact that we are not actually manipulating that particular key and I could find no issue with its function when I tested every single keyboard language OSMC ships with. If there is an issue with the long-press update I am quite keen to find it so it can be fixed before pushing this to everyone, but I cannot reproduce what your experiencing.

If you could turn on debug logging and both short-press and long-press the stop button several times, and then upload the Kodi log of that I would be interested in seeing that. Your original log appeared to have the button not come back with a valid identifier so I am curious how a long-press version of it would be acting different.

Yes, I understood what you are saying. As far as Kodi is concerned though there is a button being pressed, and that button being held down. Kodi would normally need the former if the latter works. If you want to do it another way turn on debug logging and ssh and type in
tail -f ~/.kodi/temp/kodi.log
and then short and long-press the stop button. You will see Kodi logging how it sees the key and what it is doing with it. This is what i’m interested in. You can ctrl-c to exit tail.

A clean install is a lot of work
A new update will likely not fix this. I think that when you switched to the testing builds and then pulled back out of those you missed an update last year that tweaked Keyboard support for your remote. You didn’t notice a change because we were using eventlircd still to present these to Kodi as remotes via lirc. Because you were on staging updates you recently got the updates where we switched that off and moved to keyboard input to provide the ability to use long-press actions. Switching back off of staging does not undo these changes, nor will a future update on your existing install.
Under any normal situation this would not have ever happened. I can understand the headaches involved with starting over from scratch. However there were stated risks that you agreed to when you moved to daily updates and what happens on your system going forward from here, unless you choose to do a clean install, will be completely unpredictable and not something we can be expected to support.
I think you can probably get away with keeping your library and most of your settings by using the backup/restore option in the My OSMC add-on’s backup section. Your log shows your using Kodi 18.2 and so I don’t think there would be a conflict as was earlier suggested.
