Vero 4k+ doesn't play iPhone videos (.mov)

Hi,
I can’t play iPhone videos. I’m pretty sure it used to work a couple of weeks ago, but it doesn’t anymore.
After pressing play it says ‘buffering’ in the top right corner for a second or two and then it shows the video duration and stuff like that but it doesn’t actually play. If I try to play anything else after that it just completely freezes and I have to pull the plug.
I already tried disabling ‘Auto display refresh rate’ and enabling ‘Sync playback to display’ but that didn’t help.

I assume same topic as here

Don’t do that!
Try to access by webfront end or SSH to restart cleanly instead of pulling the plug.

That user seems to see banding; but can at least play his videos

No, they just don’t play at all.

Can you upload a debug log after trying to play a file?

Where are you playing the file from?

Using the command ‘sudo systemctl restart mediacenter’ just gives me this:

Is there something else I could try instead of pulling the plug?

http://paste.osmc.tv/enakozuqon

This is the log after trying to play the file ‘b.mov’. I didn’t play anything else after it so I can upload the log before it freezes.
I’m using an external HDD.

That is already strange, but anyhow reboot should work as a clean restart better than pull the plug

If I use reboot after it freezes the Vero basically shuts down (as far as I can see). It still powers the external HDD, but there is no picture and I can’t connect via SSH so I still have to pull the plug.

Are you definitely selecting Reboot?

Yes, I used reboot.
Any idea why it even freezes?

I would suggest reinstalling OSMC

Just reinstalled OSMC, still exactly the same. Trying a second video freezes everything and rebooting via SSH causes a black screen (HDD still powered).

Can you post a fresh log of this after you can’t play a 2nd file and tell us the file name just so we can confirm?

Cheers

Here is the log: http://paste.osmc.tv/wihomenuwo
First file: ‘A.MOV’
Second file: ‘B.MOV’

The second event doesn’t even have to be a file though, e.g. trying to reboot using the remote would also freeze the system.

Any update? Does this show the reason for the freeze?

I haven’t had a chance to look at this yet

Could you share a short clip of a video that doesn’t play?

I have remuxed them all to .mkv
Now they play, but most of them are rotated the wrong way. :see_no_evil:
