It does not look like you followed the directions you were given, so no, there is no update on the fix without logs to show what the problem may be.
I cannot reproduce the problem here. I am waiting for the logs. Unfortunately it won’t be fixed in the next update.

Dan,
I can understand the frustration. It’ll get solved. I’m not trying to be difficult about the situation but until I can reproduce it here, it’s going to be tough for me to fix and any attempt to fix would be a stab in the dark. First, I need to work out what the problem is.
I’m grabbing the magnet that you’ve sent and will keep you updated and let you know if I can reproduce here. For now – some more logs would indeed help. The more information the better.
The sooner we can get this fixed the better for everyone.
Cheers
Sam

If you guys need more logs please let me know and I will post. All above logs were taken post crash (sadface) and ssh command grab-logs -A
One of those logs (last check) didn’t show a playback attempt.
Sure @sam_nazarko I hate to use PLEX and I am currently running two media servers due to this issue…
I am happy to provide more and more logs and kindly inform what extra logs you need… I am running the KODI debug log 24x7 and attached are big logs data dumps…
When I turn-off the “Passthrough Mode” this is easily replicated and let me know if you need more logs from more movies and I will send them…

Try turning off the watchdog service. It’s been know to cause problems in the past.
I notice that you are using fstab to mount a share to /USB1. But when it mounts it complains that there is already content there. You may want to look at that. And mounting to / is bad, you should mount to /mnt/USB1
I will try this option and will report any improvements. Thanks for this tip…
This was me experimenting to get the issue Fixed as per SAM’s feedback of trying to play local. I have removed the USB since then as I don’t use USB mounts.
Please upload the logs via My OSMC.
If the logs are too big, reboot and this will reduce the size.

Yes – I figured that enabling passthrough would remedy the issue.
I’m building some changes now (will be a couple of hours).
Hi
Hopefully the issue is now addressed
I’d appreciate it if you could test this and provide feedback before we potentially release this as an update to other users. To test this update:
- Login via the command line
- Edit the file
/etc/apt/sources.list
- Add the following line:
deb http://apt.osmc.tv stretch-devel main
- Run the following commands to update:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade && reboot
- Your system should have have received the update.
Please see if the issue is resolved.
I also recommend you edit /etc/apt/sources.list
again and remove the line that you added after updating. This will return you to the normal update channel.
Thanks @sam_nazarko from the quick 10 to 15min test Movies are playing (tested 4 to 5 movies) and NO crashes. I will continue to monitor tonight / tomorrow. I also noticed that your fix resulted in low CPU and Memory usage without PASSTHROUGH Mode.
Logs from my Testing as below and appreciate if you can have a look.
Logs After playing few movies:
osmc@MBRVero4Kplus : ~ $ grab-logs -A

Looks good.
Glad we got this fixed.
Watched more movies and full length… Issue is 100% fixed… Please get the fixed Merged to the next release.
Thanks heap for the priority fix… This is why I got 4x VERO Boxes in my house to support your development teams.
Thanks again.
@sam_nazarko since the latest PROD update from today (06/08) issue seems to be resurface again… attached fresh set of logs. I know you guys are very busy working on latest update. I got no rush with this and looking for a stable solution. New symptoms including “Unable to resume from Pause”
