3D Frame Packed output

Thanks, I didn’t expect to see 3D settings on that page. That will do as a workaround for now.

I converted my Kubo and the Two Strings ISO to an MKV, and I can’t get the MKV to go weird when skipping.

The visual effect when the ISO goes weird looks rather like the kind of stuttering you get on those NTSC files - it could be a similar sort of timing error.

My MVC 3D Movies (MKV’s) are displayed correctly now, subtitles work also. Display switches to 1080p 23.9Hz.

But with the Test build all my SBS Movies (also MKV‘s) switch to 1080i 50Hz and the srt subs
look a bit „grainy“. They should also be 1080p 23.9Hz. With the stable build SBS Movies were displayed correctly at 23.9.

My OSMC lives on a Vero 4K+

Thank you very much for your great work.
Very soon I will have the perfect home theater solution I have been looking for for so long.

Please provide some logs.

Thanks. Will have a look …

Your TV is not advertising support for any 3D formats other than the mandatory ones specified in HDMI1.4. SBS support is required only for 1080i50Hz and 1080i60Hz.

Have you been able to play any SBS at 24Hz with other devices or does your TV manual indicate that format should be supported?

Late to comment, but excellent update! Terrific job! The only major issue remaining is the shakiness on some 3D titles.

Agree. and the shakiness belongs only to NTSC movies.

There were several outstanding issues in the last build: stuttering on “NTSC” videos, incorrect scaling of PGS subtitles in 2D mode, things sometimes going crazy after skipping forwards or backwards during ISO playback, not being able to play 3D m2ts files, macro-blocking problems on certain titles…

I’m sure most, if not all, of those are being worked on, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

To be exact: there are currently 10 major/minor issues on my TODO list. And I’m currently (still) working on that stuttering of NTSC videos.

Yes, with RPi 3B and Libreelec (KODI 17) at the same TV/HDMI input 3D SBS Movies play fine at 24Hz.

Could you please grab a kodi log from your LE/Pi?

Do you know why some 3D movies are NTSC? They are all 23.976 frampacked. Is this stuttering we are refering to also the macroblocking that looks like decoding errors?

NTSC is the colour gamut, I think.

And no, the stuttering and the macro-blocking are two different issues.

Yes of course, thank you for checking:

  1. mkv 3d sbs on RPi/LE (plays fine 24Hz)

  2. mkv 3d sbs on Vero 4K+/OSMC (same movie, plays only 1080i 50Hz, grainy subs)

  3. mkv 3d hou on Vero 4K+/OSMC (plays fine 24Hz, may help?)

Many thanks. I’m not sure how or whether Pi checks which 3D modes are supported at each resolution, but we’re looking into it.

Meanwhile you should be able to override the EDID by adding a file ~/.kodi/userdata/disp_cap_3d with the following contents:

720p50hz FramePacking TopBottom
720p60hz FramePacking TopBottom
1080p24hz FramePacking TopBottom SidebySide
1080i50hz SidebySide
1080i60hz SidebySide

Can you see if that fixes things for 1080p24?

Just to be shure:
I add a file named disp_cap_3d.xml into ~/.kodi/userdata?
Do I have to write something else at the beginning/end of the File?

It’s not an xml. Just text as I posted it.
